Um... no, not really jackass. Even if they officially got rolling on that gulf of mexico Jack next year, you won't see even a penny's benefit at the pump for the next 10 years. Ok, you may get a penny or two knocked off simply on the fact of positive news. Otherwise, you're long way off before feeling the pain at the pump eases off.
I think Government needs to heavily invest into alternative fuel research.
I tell you this - if our gov't allocated even 1/2 of what they spent on a War in Iraq for 1 year to further alt fuel research, I bet you'd see hot new models that run on anything but fuel in a next year or two - ready to drive. Set a $10bln top prize for company that comes up with an alt fuel design, step aside and just watch those CALTECH and MIT eggheads churn out solutions on daily basis. Then, close off our borders, give the middle east a giant middle finger and laugh uncontrollably with a pinky by the corner of our collective mouth.
