I guess I will just start at the beginning....
Rolled into Sonic at 1:30 with two friends and the three of us ready for the madness that we were about to take apart of. As we walked up the stairs the butterflies in my stomach were just building. I am sure most of you have realized I am a BIG Morales fan, have been for years, I knew what to expect going in and IMO he f*cking delivered….
I think I have said this about 100 times since I walked out of the club at 10:30 am, that was MY third best night at Sonic, the other two also involved David.
When I first got inside I wanted to find my spot for the night, and while I found a good spot, I just kept moving around the floor the whole night. David had me dancing the whole night; I don’t think I stopped moving at all, even on the patio. Like Graham said the track of the night was definitely REM – Losing my Religion, the crowd just went off. A close second would have to be Pete Heller – Simpler along with this awesome sample he mixed in with it (Jeff I am hoping you remember what it was, right now my brain went remind me). Simpler has easily been the tune of the summer for me, I was on my way to the bathroom when this came on and just did such a u-turn back to the dance floor.
Earlier in the night I walked into the booth and asked David if he could play Here I Am for me. Yeah I know, you shouldn’t request a track from a DJ, but I just couldn’t help myself. Here I am is easily one of my favorite Morales tracks. I was waiting for it for what felt like all night, when in reality it probably wasn’t. They had a stage set up at the front of the club that I decided I just had to dance on.
BEST part of the night: I walk up on stage, start dancing when all of a sudden I here it coming in – HERE I AM…. (I am actually getting butterflies right now writing about it) I start going crazy, I look up into the booth and I see my brother pointing and telling David to look at the stage. All I have to say is, great timing, WOW. Now I am not one to get all emotional when a track comes on in a club, but holy shit, this is just indescribable. I am also not one to get up on stage in a pretty much full club and dance (I know, I know I did it at C&C too, that’s like two times in my 10 years of partying) While I was dancing on stage I should also mention that I did something to me knee and was limping around for the remainder of the evening, thank god it was only a few more hours….lol. This put a little bit of a damper on the rest of the weekend, but well worth it.
What else can I say, Tara-tunes were played all night, yes Graham a little circuity at times, but perfect for me. Give me the vocals and I am a happy camper all night long. I had awesome company all night, along with a perma smile. It was good to see the usual Sonic suspects and a few others that I totally did not expect to come out to this at all.
This man knows how to play for the crowd, he knows how to play that system, and he knows how to keep you dancing all night. Mr. David Morales – thank you for the incredible night, and thank you for coming back before the end of the summer. Can’t wait for October.
Ps. JON JON and HILARY – Graham was not lying you guys would love him.
