I wonder how many people are still convinced that when you import sounds to your computer, you'll still have the 'analogue' sound you started with from your synth...

I'm convinced. My Pulse lets out at least 2x the low end of anything I've ever heard before, it can easily overload my monitors without getting very loud. I high pass out everything below 60hz and it's triangle is still fatter than any others i've heard..

Also I have an old analogue mono EQ hooked up to it and let me tell you boosting all the highend and mids so your overloading it by like +17db is better than any distortion/tube vst youll find.

You don't need hardware to create an authentic sound (or steer away from todays production-perfectness hype) - that's just the 'audio engineer' at work, not the musician

This is true, software gives has lots of possiblitys, when I use software I use like 4-5 high quality VST effects on a VSTI then resample to wav and then send to a reverb or delay FX channel, then probably eq again lol.

You just need lots of plugins, and need to get down and dirty with them.

True, but we ran flat eq's for a clear comparrison.

very dumb statement... neither form sucks.. and professional engineers agree that both mediums are good. so, if you would honestly make a statement that digital sucks, then you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Digital revolutionzed the way we're able to track and edit music. True, sample rates need to be higher, but the 44.1 standard isn't that bad and this guy is just whining. Analog does sound better and every engineer that i work with recommends tracking to tape and transferring to digital if the artist has the money. But, they do not discourage digital.

Just another audio purist... Listen to Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon, in 5.1 surround sound and then tell me how much digital sucks

I had a 106 for awhile I absolutely loved it. Sold it to be able to afford a Jupiter 6. Though i feel the 106 has some features the jupiter doesnt sub osc and chorus. The chorus is really amazing for pads and basses though it gets a little noisy if you use to much. And the 106 has a bass sound that can be heard in a lot of classic house and DnB tunes.

When i get some cash again I want to get a juno 60 which is pretty much a 106 without midi, but it has filters more inline with a jupiter 8. No mini is no problem for me as I already have 3 synths without midi and have a midi CV converter.

I actually could go into a long tirade how computers and digitization has ruined the modern musician, the industry and the end listener. But instead im just gonna leave it be.

In the end for my personal music this is all i need..

And yes digital sucks.

That's awsome, the normal one doesn't have much variation in distortion on synths, I pretty much just always keep the tone knob down.

As a 20 year musician, I agree that the digital age has taken SOME talent out of the everyday musician... singers that can't sing are now the standard... but, it's just the evolution of music and technology. It's not so bad to have an evolutionary shift to where people can make different styles of music using different styles of instrument, namely, the computer...It blows my mind each day at what we're capable of doing using computers... As time goes on, sample rates will get higher for CD quality... They're already there and being used every day, we just downsample to get to the CD quality.

Unless you're a musician who's directly suffered as a result, then you've got nothing to complain about. I sure hope that you don't listen to CDs, MP3s or go to any shows that utilize any other medium that vinyl or analog tape, cause then you'd just be a hipocrit.

Now, I will say this, digital has given way to the overuse of compression in in the final mastering stage, which is definately weakening an entire generation's ears as to what sounds good. But, that's not digital's fault.. it's the RIAA's fault for putting these ridiculous demands on mastering engineers.

Analog will always sound better.. Dealing with actual voltage and actual waveforms will eternally be the standard... But, that's not to say that things can't sound different.
