IMO -- THE BEST PVD SONG OF ALL TIME -- I cant help but get chills everytime I hear this track (original mix). Its soooooo sad. Yeah, Paul produced it when he was kinda depressed about all the album issues and problems he was facing when trying to get it released in 1999. If youve ever heard him spin it live (Montreal June 2001!!) you get that definite "wow ... he really IS god!" feeling for sure
I noticed back in his sets at Twilo that he would play Face to Face as a background of many tracks...I would always try to listen for it...also, if you listen to "Together We Will Conquer" he also uses some of the same effects in that tune as well..
I believe it was in Muzik Magazine that van Dyk described this song as something you would hear coming back from a club and seeing the sun rise...I have the magazine, I'll try to track down the exact quote..overall, one of my fav. tunes....

This is how van Dyk describes Face to Face in his own words:
"I originally wanted to get Bernard Summer to do a vocal on it, but he turned out to be a good friend of the manager of the label I had all the hassle with. Still, I like the way this feels, like the sun coming out after really miserable weather."-Paul van Dyk.

Originally posted by [DJK] sometimes i think Paul puts TOO MUCH bass in his tracks (may be its just my speakers) but this song i like, the Piano mix more so.
That is why i think forbidden fruit is better than for an angel (don't flame) The melody is other worldly.
