I know I won't be paying that high price for this system when it comes out. I can wait a year after it drops to see if the price goes down. Looks like I'll be stuck with the PS2 for awhile longer then planned lol.

Gamestop says that they will be taking pre-orders sometime in October. The minimum to put down on it is $200. Not too bad.

There is a local video games place outside of NYC that took my pre-order im friends with the owner. This was pre lessing the number of units, but he said he was going to be getting 20 PS3's I pre-ordered 3 (1 in full 100 on the other 2) I just hope he is still getting them since I ordered 3 to sell the other 2 on Ebay for financial gain

I planned on buying one on release, but I don't get a best buy employee discount on it, and i'd have to wait inline since we aren't allowed to hold consoles for ourselves until a few months after launch. On top of that the release lineup is underwhelming to me. Btw, the cut in supply was caused for the same reason the euro delay was, a problem with one of their component companies, however they still plan on hitting a few million units shipped by the end of 06.

So it seems that even the retard pack will now have hdmi, and to top it off the japs get the retard pack cheaper than the rest of the world [source]. Probably to compensate for the fact that only 100k consoles will be available on opening day. Since europe wont see any PS3s till march it would be nice to show the same gesture to the people here, but apparently europe is to rich to even notice the difference between 600$ and 600� so why bother dropping the price

So normal blue-ray and hd-dvd player production has been slashed, and will comence again next year.

The other problem with the ps3 is that they cannot produce the cell processor(the cpu in the ps3). They were only getting a 10% manufacturing yield, which means only 10% of all the chips produced, actually worked.

Japanese PS3 Price drop. It might be possible for the US too

Aside from that though, we may have to wait outside the night before to get a PS3 it seems. I guess we'll have to wait for the Tokyo Game Show to be over this weekend before we get some final statements.
