That'll kill the budget for sure...

Gas prices up here in the Toronto area fell quite a bit over the last month.
We got to a high of approx. $1.27 / L and has fallen now to .75 / L or so.

For you American types that would be...
(Lets see if I do the math right)

1 US Gallon = 3.785011355 L or 0.2642 US Gallon = 1 L

So,

$1.27/1 L = $1.27/0.2642 US Gallon

Therefore, to convert to 1 Gallon:

x/1 US Gallon = $1.27/0.2642 US Gallon

$1.27 = .2642x
x = $1.27/.2642
x = $4.81 / 1 US Gallon (rounded off)

Converted to US Dollars (conversion rate today being 0.893895) we were paying, on the high end, $4.29 US / 1 US Gallon down to $2.53 US / 1 US Gallon right about now.

Not too far off from you guys really.

And yes, I remember the days when I could fill up the tank for about $20 too.

damn...who said Algebra was useless?

dont you get healthcare? damn.

If you want me to put you to rest, then YES, there is an element of seasonality. With the passing of Labor day, the "Summer Driving Season" is officially over. Of course I never really understood that because it also means the kids go back to school and carpools start up and traffic increases. But yes, they do speak of a summer driving season where gas prices are typically higher. Likewise, in the winter, natural gas and heating related energy costs go through the roof, but are generally benign in the summer. Loosen up, have a beer!

However, the timing is indeed good politically. Conspire away!

Healthcare covers 'health', like my broken leg (no I'm not joking, 3 weeks now ).
I wish it covered gas!!! That would be awesome.

I'd image in a round about way yes, since the federal government does tax it to death (like everything else around here).

OPEC wants the GOP to remain in office. look at the alternative:

a party [Dems] that dismisses what predominately Sunni Arab states consider a real threat. brought on, in part by, yes, the Bush Doctrine. yay Bush Doctrine.

a party that is seen as weak (at least by GOP standards) to the destabilizing exorsize of terrorism and a nuclear Iran.

maybe certain Arab states can see what lies ahead and have come to terms with the fact that Democrats do not have their best interest where they think they need to be. not just for the immediate future. but for the decades ahead.

so you may be on to something. just a thought.

good luck this November.
