If you watched the webcast archive ( I posted the link earlier ) you could see some near giggle like reactions from the other excellencies and representatives in their seats.

The whole thing is one big laughable speech. Dragging someone in the mudd usually doesn't work well in putting people on your side

Charlie Rangel--"Oh no you diiiiin't!"

AN ATTACK ON BUSH IS AN ATTACK ON ALL AMERICANS... 'You do not come into my country, my congressional district, and you do not condemn my president. If there is any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not. I just want to make it abundantly clear to Hugo Chavez or any other president, but do not come to the United States and think because we have problems with our president that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our Chief of State'

Pelosi in on it too...

quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - One of President George W. Bush's fiercest political opponents at home took his side on Thursday, calling Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez a "thug" for his remark that Bush is like the devil.

"Hugo Chavez fancies himself a modern day Simon Bolivar but all he is an everyday thug," House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said at a news conference, referring to Chavez' comments in a U.N. General Assembly speech on Wednesday.

"Hugo Chavez abused the privilege that he had, speaking at the United Nations," said Pelosi, a frequent Bush critic. "He demeaned himself and he demeaned Venezuela."

Simon Bolivar led the fight for independence against Spanish rule in several South American countries in the early 19th century and is cited by Chavez as a political model.

Chavez, a vociferous critic of Bush and the United States, has allied himself with U.S. opponents Cuba and Iran and has led a resurgence of left-wing populism in Latin America.

"The devil himself is right in the house. And the devil came here yesterday. Right here," Chavez said as he stood at the U.N. podium where Bush spoke the day before.

"It smells of sulfur still today, this table that I am now standing in front of," Chavez said.

His remarks drew applause from many of the delegates.

Bush administration officials have not responded directly to Chavez's remarks.

"I am not going to dignify a comment by the Venezuelan president to the president of the United States. I think it is not becoming for a head of state," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Wednesday.

Gotta love politics.

Oh this is just awesome. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out you stupid monkey.

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez launched a new personal attack against President George W. Bush, calling the US leader an "alcoholic" and a "sick man" during a tour of the New York district of Harlem.

Speaking while walking in a Harlem street, Chavez told a group of passers-by: "Bush is an alcoholic, a sick man with a lot of hang-ups."

"He walks like John Wayne," declared the left-wing Venezuelan leader. "He doesn't know anything about politics, he got there because of Daddy." Bush's father, George Bush, was also a US president.

In a controversial speech before the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Chavez called Bush "the devil" and "a tyrant."

Chavez went to Harlem to announce the expansion of a programme to send cheap Venezuelan oil to poor families in New York.

It's not like any of that stuff isn't true. I wouldn't call it a personal attack, but an assesment of how unqualified Bush is for his job.

EDIT: He forgot to mentioned Bush's cocain addiction.

Probably because he didn't want to offend his neighbors by attacking their product.

And how can you say they're not personal attacks? Calling someone "The Devil" is not a personal attack, but instead is an assessment of his lack of qualifications?

Well, if someone where to call Hitler or Stalin "the devil," I certainly wouldn't consider it to be a personal attack.

I hate Bush, but are you seriously trying to compare him to Hitler or Stalin?? Their death counts are just a smidge higher than his. Saddam has killed more people than Bush and I'd say it's going too far to call him "the devil."

Otherwise, you're undermining the concept of "the devil."

Well, I think Bush is an idiot and doesn't possess anywhere near the intelligence or cunningness of Stalin or Hitler. He's nothing more than figure for public display, but the people behind him aren't terribly different. We will see the rise of the Forth Reich if they manage to take away enough liberties and get their way, IMHO. If that happens, which I hope doesn't, there won't be much debate over their similarities.

EDIT: The death count resulting from their policies is only increasing, and at a quite rapid rate. If they go after Iran and Syria, it's only going to get alot worse.

EDIT2: And the fucked up part is that they ARE succeeding in taking away more and more liberties, aswell as getting away with their foreign policy. I'm pretty sick of hearing people referring to Iraq as a "mistake" where it's clear as day it was a premeditated invasion, along with all the other ones on the list which they're working ever so hard to prepare the propaganda for, like Ahmadajins comments taken entirely out of context to jusitify the invasion of Iran, and ofcourse the whole nuclear scare. 9-11 provided them with the scenario to manipulate a frightened population in to passive comliance with their agenda. What more proof do you need that PNAC's "Rebuilding Americas Defenses?"

The irony of it all is that a guy like Chavez comes to America where he can spout that kind of bullshit ad nauseum without any fear of reprocussion. He can walk around the streets of New York sounding like an ass without fear. Now if a U.S. politician went to Venezuela and stood in front of a massive public forum like that and called Chavez "the devil" or something of the like, that person would probably be marked until he left the country.

Shaolin, you will support anything provided it is anti-Bush, or in the very least find some pathetic way to rationalize it.

I'm not necessarily anti-Bush, I'm just not fond of facism of any form. I'm especially not fond of Corporafascism, the dominant institutional structure of our times.
