apartment, so you'll keep her locked in every day or will you let it out?
What floor?
My ex had a cat and she lived the second floor, 3 room apart.. She let it out every day, so the cat was outside most of the day and came in when we came home.
After a while the cat didn't come back, a few weeks later we saw him again walking to some neighbours, living there :/
But well, I'f you'll keep him inside, beware of the furniture, it will shit/piss whereever it goes (first week(s) though).
As some others said, yea they are pretty independent but 10 hours locked up in an apart, I dunno...

it'll be a strictly indoor cat. i'm on the first floor so i have a patio, but i wouldn't just let him run outside 'cause he might run away.
i've had many cats in my life and i never had a problem with kittens peeing or pooping everywhere. they're usually really smart about using their litter box right away.
plus the person who lived in my apartment before me had a dog so the carpet is already kind of gross.

having just had to decide to put my baby boy to sleep, i'd like to say something myra.
if you have the love, some energy & the will to look after an animal, do it. I'm totally rock bottom right now, I hate myself so much for what I had to do but I had to do it because he'd have been in so much pain & not the dog I loved, even though he wasn't quite 5 years old. Would I do it again? You fucking bet I would, animals can do so much for us (providing we're not allergic theresa!) they lift you when you're down, make you smile with their goofy actions and generally brighten up a life as much as we do theirs. if you're sure you can handle it, do it, and make a kitty very happy. Just make sure it don't shit on my yard!

i really want him, but i'm afraid i won't be around to love him as much as he deserves. i work full time (9am-6pm) and have class 2 nights a week, so i'm not home a whole lot. sometimes i go away for the whole weekend to visit RJT, so sometimes i won't be home from Fri morn til Mon night. i go on vacation a few times a year but if i did that i'd have one of my co-workers cat-sit for me if i was gonna be gone for more than 3 days.
i know kitties are pretty independent, but i wanna be around to love him and cuddle him all the time!
should i get one? i'm really torn. |
Get one! Kittens are awesome. As you said, they're very independent, yet very they crave attention, when you're around. Just make sure the litterbox is clean, feed it properly, and they'll love you forever. Don't be afraid to leave it home, if you're away for more than one day - just leave it enough water and food, and it'll be ok. I've had my cat, since she was eight-weeks old. She's now 11 years old. We've moved together five times, in the last few years (moving again, mid-October) She's my family!
