I'm glad we came to an agreement. Isn't the world wonderful when we can settle everything in peace?

Anyway, I apologise to the topic starter for going off topic. I agree with Freaq about slicing the loops and skipping the kick when laying it down.

and then a highpass filter could fix the final bits. The rest you wont even notice when your kick is playing on top of it

automation at beats where kick is playing might do well...so you're not highpassing as much for the other parts of the loop...

How will you make a cohesive, professional sounding track, if you don't use one-shots? How do you individually compress and EQ and effect complex drum loops?

And how do you make a rhythm in your percussion to vibe with your bass and melody if it was made by some guy who has no idea what your track's melody sounds like?

I couldn't agree more Shibby, but lots of people are learning. And throwing together loops to figure out your style is a great way to sort of get your juices flowing.

I'll grab loops sometimes, find a rhythm I like... and emulate it. I'm constantly trying to get better at production, and it's nice to get fresh perspectives on rhythm, especially when you are mostly self-taught.
