Wow thanks for the quick review! If this performs consistently there's a very good chance I'll be picking it up in the very near future... Peace out CD's!

how is backspinning fastforwarding and rewinding using a CDJ or a turnable?

I only tested with a turntable today, but will test a CDJ after this weekend. The performance with the TT was great, though. I couldn't make it lose the timecode no matter what I did (including harsh backspins, low frequency vibration, and very sharp movements). I didn't try backspinning it for 30 seconds, because frankly I would NEVER EVER do that in real life.

Loop sync is handled via the Master Tempo feature in the top center of the display. If you want to add some loops, just set the master tempo to the same value as the program record, then engage it. Now, any loops you fire off will roll in time with the master tempo.

Also does it have master tempo like on a CDJ?

I think you're really referring to key locking here, and yes, it does. In fact, it goes one better and has independant key and tempo. You can freely adjust the key without effecting the speed of the song (or vice versa).

Nice hopefully this will spur Serato to get into gear with their Pitch n Time add-on.

oh speaking of serato scratch live, I highly suggest that it use with turntables instead CDJs. Serato still has to improve the CDJs pitch accuracy.

Thank you I thought I would ask how it is manipulating with CDJ and can you possibly lose track of a tune by scratching or doing fastforwards and sudden backspins, that's all.

Solid Review

I'm betting the CPU Usage would've even been lower, if you eliminate the Ozone. The Ozone does like to drain more juice than the average plugin.

Sounds perfect for mixing thus far.

Thanks for posting the review.

I got ya. I'll test CDJ operation soon and update my results.

Yup. This is why I picked Ozone in the first place. I wanted a monster of a plugin to see how a system would handle both running at the same time.

nem0nic you're making me regret just buying Serato.

Worst part is Serato hasn't even arrived at my house yet and cost me £160 more than what Torq would have, that £160 could have gone straight into my Nuo 4 savings fund!

Nooooooooo!

LOL! Serato is a great product and you'll be well served by it. I just like the fact that a new player has entered the ring.

My email address is [email protected] Prism.

AND IN OTHER NEWS...

Alot of people have been talking about system specs and how what M-Audio said and what is posted is so different. Someone on the SSL boards made me look into things a little deeper.

The Conectiv package comes in a box surrounded by a sleeve...

http://www.nem0nic.com/boxsleeve.jpg

The sticker I got my original specs from is on the actual box. You can tell it's a sticker and can see the box through it.

http://www.nem0nic.com/specsticker.jpg

Of course I opened up the package as soon as I got it and tossed the sleeve aside. But the folks at M-Audio also printed up COMPLETELY DIFFERENT specs on the sleeve.

http://www.nem0nic.com/sleevespecs.jpg - yes, my camera is ASS-tastic.

Here are the specs printed on the outside sleeve (and thus to any customer that looks at the package).

Windows Minimum
XP SP2
Pentium 4 1.4ghz
512MB RAM

Windows Recommended
XP SP2
Pentium 4 2ghz (or greater)
1GB RAM
Hard Drive 7200RPM or faster

Mac Minimum
Mac OSX 10.4.7
G4 1.5ghz
1GB RAM
(See website for details on known issues of Macintosh System Performance)

Mac Recommended
OSX 10.4.7
Intel Core Duo 1.83ghz (or greater)
Dual G5 2ghz (or greater)
1GB RAM
Hard Drive 7200RPM or faster

Sorry guys. In my haste to get going (and knowing I wouldn't have much time to test over the weekend), I didn't even look at the outer sleeve. But now you have the scoop.

However, this still doesn't do anything to the CPU usage I personally encountered doing a real time test. It's still not the monster I was thinking it was going to be (not even close). I am more comfortable with these published specs than the ones on the actual box, and these new specs are indeed the ones customers would see if they walked into a store and looked themselves.

Wow, sounds like it might be an alternative worth looking into.

Why is it that you are saying it might not be well oriented towards scratch DJs?
