I have heard so many people make this claim and it never stands up under the Pepsi challenge. This would be even less noticeable in a large room like a trance club. Now maybe you can here the difference, but I've listened to the same recording of the same song, on the same high end system, in a sound controlled environment and I couldn't tell the difference. Maybe your hearing is better than mine.

In my opinion, I think it really is just a matter of personal style or what you are used to. I certainly don't expect any current vinyl djs to start using CDs. But for someone who is just now getting into djing, I don't see any real reason for not using CDs (or vinyl for that matter). Both have their up and down sides. As for the use of CDs replacing skills, I disagree. You are still speeding up and slowing down songs, matching beats, choosing the music etc. The only difference is you're using buttons to do it. The only thing you can't really emulate with a CD system is scratching, and in the trance genre, it's not really that important anyway.

Vinyl is so much better, you can always just burn a CD
