exectly! the TI for itself stands as one hell of a synth. I'd get one but in time...the VSTi part is a bonus bro, even without it you can do the same stuff, with it is prolly easier but to that part you'll get soon once they fix most of the bugs. in the mean while you can just think to yourself - "damn, I got a TI infront of me" hehehe. =)

I say you go for the compuglobalhypermegasaw.

That, and don't buy an incredibly expensive piece of hardware to create one sound.

In my opinion, if you have a Virus TI and don't own a JP-80x0 or the new SH-201... you're not gonna be missing out on anything. For the most part, the TI can do everything the JP/201 can. There's a lot of people like me who have a JP-80x0 and won't be able to tear away from it even if they acquire the TI.

The only recommendation I have for choosing software over hardware is the ease of use. Generally speaking, using plug-ins (softsynths, primarily) are just easier to use than their hardware counterparts. And with demo installs available, there's a nice try before you buy option instead of dishing out $1000 for a piece of kit you might not like.

EH...

The virus waveforms sound a bit darker in my opinion, and the JP80x0 is more lofty and bright.

The raw Virus waveforms are really weak. No point beating around the bush.

Get the impOSCar demo if you don't already own it and check out how much more powerful the oscillators are. impOSCar's square wave is powerful as fuck.

not at all, if I were just about the saw sound I would get the roland,
BUT I pretty much want to get ONE hardware based subtractive synth. (unless its a moog) and I didn't want to have to plunk down $$ for the TI then feel that the TI saw was lacking and feel obligated to get a Roland on top of that.

But I very much appreciate the advice.
Also where can I hear your stuff?
