maaaan that's half the fun with trance and EDM in general. Since it's not very public and mainstream you're forced to look around on the internet and search for old ass stuff and used record shops. And you like hear a track that you think is the most amazing piece of art you'll EVER hear, and the next week you hear a new track that just completely blows you away more then the last! MAN I LOVE TRANCE!!!!!!

sry, just got a little carried away there.

While you are still at it you can search for Energy 52 - Café Del Mar (Cosmic Baby's Impression), the original released on the Eye Q label in the year '93, sounding a bit outdated but still the main lead are there.

As everyone knows there are hundreds and hundreds of beautfiul tracks out there, so you basically can't just know them all...
I was listening to di.fm channel today at work (the vocal trance channel, that is) and I heard this one track that TOTALLY made my day.
I know it's a classic and it was very popular by the time I started to listening to real trance, but for some reason I never got to listen to it.

The one track I speak of is
Solid Sessions - Janeiro (Armin van Buuren Remix)

I could kill myself for missing this tune... especially since it's already 5 years old, but I am SOOOO happy I discovered it in the end^^.
But this has happened to me before, and to one of my friends,too... he heard Verachocha - Carte Blanche for the first time at Trance Energy this year

Has anyone else had situations like this?

Yeah it does happen, and if you keep searchin it will keep happening =)

Well, how I feel about Janeiro is...

James Holden Remix - The sound of seagulls doesn't really do anything for me, neither does the non-sensical guitar riff. I guess the vocal creates atmosphere but it's looped in a really annoying way, kinda like gurgling mouthwash in the morning. Overall I'd say it's a bunch of random sounds, which (other than the seagulls) are nice but are badly used.

Armin Mix - Ugh, it's so boring. The supersaw swamps the whole mix, sounds really muddy and monotonous, the singing isn't anything special either. Drags along.

Original Mix - Pretty decent to chill to, I reckon on a sunny beach this would be nice. Background music otherwise.

And in regards to Cafe Del Mar, the Original Three 'n' One can't be touched. It has a unique character and feel that's lost in the remixes.

The best mix of Janeiro is the Lemon8 Mix.

An added bonus of discovering old classics is that they are cheaper Been scouring the back catalogues myself ever since those scabs at Beatport increased their UK prices

I'll see if I can check it out.

I bet loads of great tracks have passed me by simply because I heard a bad remix.

Cheers

EDIT: I've been very lucky in finding old tracks because I taped loads of sets from the radio, where DJs normally read out the name of the track.
