I have 2 Numark TT-1520's and a Gemini BPM-150 mixer.
I DJ at home, in the basement, only learning so far.
Slowly getting better. (I'm 21.)
Tell me , Nate, how does it feel like to DJ live, in front of a big crowd?
Is it scary? What do you do if you make a mistake?
Is it hard to beatmatch with all the noise?

just go to a local night club near your area. Make friends with the manager, give him your mixed cd, tell him you would like a job , and hopefully it will take off. Good Luck and never say that life sux it can only get better.

well, actually, if you give him a mixed CD with NON-commercial stuff, he might not like you.

How'd you get into DJing?
I'd really like to try it, but it seems time-consuming, expensive, and a little confusion. I wish I had a friend who was a DJ so I could get mentored.

Djing at a club wasnt my first time infront of a live crowd. I have been djing since i was 14. I djed all of my friends house parties for free lots of times and you get used to the crowd, and their reactions. If you make a mistake you CANT get nervous. Just act quit and make it sound good. Practice makes perfect.

Dont give him hardcore deep trance, give him nice melodic uplifting trance that will get the crowd going, and has a unique sound that no one else has.

Man, sending mix cd's to various clubs does not work!..i sent like 3 clubs my mix cd and i never got a call once! teen clubs are hard to get gigs at..you have to be lucky..my mix cd consisted of good trance..def club shit..it pisses me off that not one club called ..and the club buys vinyl for you? thats fucked up..i never heard of something like that? do they also pay you each gig you spin at?

you CAN'T make any big mistakes. When the beat isn't matched just a little push will help. But if the mix gets out of control just spin the record and cut it. And make it sound as good as you can.

well i was very good friends with the manager and i just poped the queshtin to him one night and he agreed. I guess i was lucky. I get played VERY VERY little for each night, that why they buy me the records. Im not doing it for the money so it really dosent matter for me. I make my money back by giving out my card to the crowd and getting piad well for doing private parties.
