if the Norks test another device, China may induce regime change in Pyongyang themselves.

NK have allready stated that there making Nukes to put off the U.S. attacking them, if the US leaves them everthing will be fine. What gives the U.S. the right to have nukes and not N.K.

i don't know man, why don't you ask someone who lives in Seoul that question?

China, hell, EVERY member of the UN Security Council wasn't stupid enough to float a question like that. and with France, thats saying something!

sorry man, but a question like that really deserves a reality check.

Actually that is the right question to ask.

UN security council was bullied by the US. Russia voted on this resolution only because the US agreed to vote on another one about Georgia.

I'm not sure that China and Russia are so scared of NK having nuclear weapons. They always had a good relations with NK. I guess the US or Europe traded with China on another issue as incase with Russia.

As I see nobody except US, Europe and Japan doesn't mind NK having nukes. Why ?

I would be suprised if NK didn't pass the technology to the Iran already. That would be a good deal.

so why was the motion passed unanimously then? these naive little semantic arguments are bullshit. NK is a disgraceful regime that murders its people by famine whilst spending money on arms and nuclear development.

And the US has conducted it's genoicidal policies for the last few decades, mostly against Latin America and the Middle East. And the only one to use a WMD, on a civilian target.

dont bring ww2 into the argument. thats just ridiculous. im not saying the US is perfect. but dont try and compare it to nations like north korea. youre the first one to point out the dictatorial measures taken by congress since 9/11, yet ignore much worse situations in NK? come on.

despite its flaws the US is the lesser of the two evils as far as i am concerned. dont forget that governments come and go in the US, whereas dictatorships stay the same.

you should all be glad its countries like the US that are major powers and not nations like NK.

of course it is. now go ask a South Korean (preferably one that lives a handfull of clicks from the DMZ) whether it's "ok" for the Norks to have nukes. i bet you a hundred dollars that that same Korean is still pissed that Bush-41 took all the American nukes off the peninsula in '91 as a show of good faith!

bullied by the U.S.? so, IOW, the rest of the Security Council secretly wants NK to have nukes but don't have the stones to admit it?
dumb.
you're confusing the details of the sanctions with whatever wishes you think the Security Council wants NK to have.

ok it's official. you really don't know.

i was watching yesterday China openly debate on the floor of the UN whether or not they should get rid of Kim Jong Il themselves! they're sick of him. >SOURCE<

Why ?

you obviously only see things that you want to see.
answer me this: do you think China wants Japan to "go nuclear" in response to NK going nuclear?

why would that be good? or are you just being a child?

wow...

some people have totally forgotten the meaning of 'TOTAL WAR'..

back to topic...

Rice promises U.S. defense of Japan

By ANNE GEARAN, AP Diplomatic Writer 1 hour, 58 minutes ago

TOKYO - Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday the United States is ready to use the "full range" of its military might to defend Japan in light of
North Korea's nuclear weapons test, and her Japanese counterpart drew a firm line against developing a Japanese bomb.

The United States is concerned that Japan,
South Korea or perhaps Taiwan may want to develop their own nuclear weapons programs to counter the threat from North Korea. Such moves would anger China, which already has nuclear weapons, and raise tensions in the region.

Part of Rice's assignment on this week's hastily arranged trip to China, Russia, Japan and South Korea is to lessen the temptation to develop separate national nuclear programs by reaffirming the U.S. intention to defend the nations most at risk.

In Japan, Rice said she reaffirmed
President Bush's pledge, made the day of the North's test last week, "that the United States has the will and the capability to meet the full range — and I underscore the full range — of its deterrent and security commitments to Japan," Rice said following discussions with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso.
