American movies are real puzzlers. Not only do they touch on subjects so alien to other cultures, the symbolism contained in them makes you watch the movie at least 5 times before you understand it. Also the language is very confusing, due to the vast vocabulary the characters use.

Well couldn't the same be said about movies from any culture?
When I started watching British movies and series years ago I had a really hard time at first not only because of the language but also all the cultural references.
I know when I watch French Quebec stuff I have a heard time understanding some of the cultural references just because I don't know everything about the region.
It's a different country, different language, it's obvious it's going to be hard for any outsider to get the whole thing 100% unless they know the whole culture.
