I asked two friends (one of whom is the sound tech at a club, the other is a certified gear nerd), and both are telling me that there shouldn't be a problem. It's raining right now anyways, no sense in carrying them across the yard in the rain...
I'm not worried about theft, just temperature (and to a lesser extent, humidity, but it's not like i'm going to take them inside and turn them on right away). I think they should be fine. If you think about it, all of your gear survives a trip in an airplane and/or truck across the country as it's shipped to you anyways. Hell, I got my second CDJ in January shipped ground cross-country, I'm sure it spent a few freezing nights out there, but it works just fine.
Btw, I do take very very good care of my stuff. They are currently wrapped in garbage backs and padded with towels so avoid any sliding around in the trunk (I only keep them in the truck so that no one can see them through the windows, thus no risk of theft). |
yeah you're good... one night won't hurt them. shit, i think they could withstand a lot more than 1 night in the cold. i have left my gear in my car numerous times (not the cdj's though cuz i just got em). never had any problems... paying 1000+ for a piece of equipment: yeah we should take care of it, but it is well built and made to endure temperatures in the 50's. its not like we're in antartica or death valley lol
