i had sirius for 6 months and then couldn't handle it cutting out on me anymore. I hated waiting for it rebuffer in the middle of a 'mix'. Which brings me to my next point the guys on Area 33 can't seem to beat match if their carrers depended on it!
In the end I got frustrated and felt it wasn't worth it yet. I'll probably check it out again in another year or two though when they've made some money and can improve things a bit.

I used it in NYC, New Orleans and Los Angeles and I had the same complaints about the service no matter where I was in those places or anywhere else along the road in between.

Getting back to topic I have an XM sat radio with a home and car base station and it's totally awesome. They have two channels dedicated to house/progressive and Trance. It hardly ever cuts out on me and works on those long road trips where all you normally get is Country music or nothing at all.
The music content is fantastic and the DJ's on XM do know how to mix/beat match.
I would highly recommend it. My only slight reservation is that it is definitely not CD quality as both Sirius and XM advertise.

Vivid no ranting

P.S- I am getting this because i am frustrated with my Ipod battery dying out too quickly, and i cant handle taking the unit back to plug to my pc and then downloading , uploading etc.

much easier-sit in car , press play

thanks for the advice, so are you saying its better to get XM or Sirius?, cause i still have time to return it!

I dont know about the buffering problem, but i have a friend whos car i played it in here in vancouver, no problem with him! I dont live in the GTA anymore, but will it work in the US if i drive down?

I personally have had no issues with buffering of the channels. However, from reading some of the forums it is not an uncommon problem - especially in cities that have repeaters. I'm in London - no repeater here.i haven't had problems with it in Lodnon nor anywhere in southern Ontario, or the northeastern US. perhaps I'm just lucky. XM appears to be in trouble from what i've been reading lately. do your research before you decide.

Regarding reception quality it does help to properly mount an antenna on the roof of your car. (It's easy, they just stick on then run the wire under the rubber molding of your rear window into the trunk and then into the car. Also it pays to get an interface that plugs into your Auxiliary input on the back of your head unit (most decks, even OEM ones, have one for a CD changer) This will improve the sound a lot. Otherwise the Sat radio transmits a weak FM signal to the frequency of your choice which does cause interference as you drive around and start picking up other radio stations on that frequency.
XM is doing just fine business wise. I would pick whichever one has the better programming for you. They are both awesome.

I was totally leaning towards them, then they gave a morning show to Mike Bullard...

I have had this for over a year now and Area 33 is pretty good at night with the mixes.
During the day when they just have tunes played they are not mixed nor are they trying to be it's just like any other radio station. At night is when they have on the mixes, which are usually pretty good. PVD has his vionic sessions going on now for about a month and I always tune into that, Gabriel and Dresden have a show - decent as well as countless other shows.
Sirius has been a god sent to me. I have no listened to regual radio since the day I bought it - Serisouly, I would rather listen to music that I make up in my head than shitty comercial radio.

I have 3 units now, 2 for both my cars and the new Stilleto. AMAZING..
it's worth the $10 a month (I pay per year)

Cool, after some reading a looking at a few XM units, i personally saw the lineup on sirius better. So ill stick to the Replay unit i got from sirius.

Well i cant use it till next week anyhow , have to wait for a appointment to get it fixed here at futureshop on saturday!
