Panera bread, actual bread sucks. Tastes like rubber foam soaked in vinegar. I also hate all the chain stores like Panera bread, Starbucks coffee, all the other "yuppy" shit. I prefer to support my local mom and pop stores by bying a better latte at a local coffee shop for only $2.60, buying a delicious french baguette at my local bakery, and I would have continued shopping at my local hardware store if behemoths like Loew's or Home Depot didn't drive them out of business. At least there, I spoke with competent people who knew their shit and were always helpful.
Support the little guy or the huge corporations will own your ass in no time.
I don't remember the last time I actually got a "good customer service" at chain stores - Best Buy, Home Depot, etc. There's a tiny little toy store in NJ, about 30 minutes away from my house. I make it a point to go there to buy toys for my kid - they have beautiful and smart toys from Europe - toys that actually develop kid's imagination and not your regular marketing brand whoring of spiderman, batman, or any other fuckman that marvel, dc, or other entity decides it needs to whore out for a buck.
I hate how this country is going down into a corporate shitter. I hope I'm not alone in this one and something can still be done about it. There's nothing sadder than a big corporate stores pushing out tasteful and often useful stores out of everywhere... I'm afraid we soon will have no choice in this fucked up over-consumerizm and good-ol American gluttony.
oh, and if expression like "customer is always right" if not completey dead yet, definitely in a deep coma. I just love the irony of trying to return some crappy doo-dat to Worst Buy and having to deal with the rudest and most inconsiderate people on the planet (and that's after waiting for like 45 minutes to move through a long-ass fucking line, while "customer (dis)service" reps are bullshitting around) while reading some meaningless sign proclaiming "Customer Satisfaction is our Number One priority".

And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. |
