he wants the song to be instrumental, not the vocals (acapella) off of it, its way more manageable to make it an acapella than an instrumental

So it can't be done without fucking up other stuff? Awwww that sucks. I am not a fan of vocals. I am guessing the only way I can get an instrumental is to contact Massive Attack... which I cant find an e-mail.

If you can get the acapella can't you invert it then apply it back to the track to cancel out the frequencys?

You prob couldn't remove everything perfectly, but with some production skills i would imagine that you could make it so that 99.9% of the people couldn't tell.

never even thought of that, either way, i dont think anyone can perfectly take out the vocals of a track either. i dont know, i dont produce like that or try that kind of stuff.
and good luck to the guy trying to get the instrumental to that. i emailed looq records to get acapella for momu the dive and they said no, haha

try using the utility plugin in ableton or any other plugin that fucks with the stereo feild. in the utility plugin you can take out all of the stereo frequencies by turning it to 0% and take out all of the mono frequencies by turning it to 200%. most kick drums, basslines, and vox are going to be down the center in mono, with their reverb, delay, and other effects in stereo. you may not get lucky but its worth a try.





That's how they teach it in schools of audio engineering.
