i mix harmonically 100% of the time. though it does limit your track selection,
ive just put 16 tracks together for a set i found it limited my track selection quite abit there were some tracks i want to play 3 of the mixes are of key but they still sound good anyway no one will no any different.

Who are you favorite dj's/producers? do you think they ever miss a key in their sets?
Nothing worse than droping energy on the dance floor with a sour mix
it doesnt mean that just cause 2 tracks are off key they are certain to sound crap sometimes they go together really well. ive played tracks before that sound like they are meant to be together but then checked and they were of key.

There's tons of ways to mix tracks harmonically if they're off key and still have them sound good, just have to watch out for energy drop and clashing melodies, have to do more of a drop mix or bass swap etc...
The concept of being limited is far from the truth imo.

no clashing melodies i play techno / tech trance lol
but for people starting out i think it is limiting as they will have less records.
