it doesnt mean that just cause 2 tracks are off key they are certain to sound crap sometimes they go together really well. ive played tracks before that sound like they are meant to be together but then checked and they were of key.

i had a go at harmonic mixing but my mixing sounded awful as the set didnt built the way i usually build it.

There's tons of ways to mix tracks harmonically if they're off key and still have them sound good, just have to watch out for energy drop and clashing melodies, have to do more of a drop mix or bass swap etc...

The concept of being limited is far from the truth imo.

no clashing melodies i play techno / tech trance lol
but for people starting out i think it is limiting as they will have less records.
