I've found trance, yes even Armin's "it worked in 2001 so it's still money!" style seems fine, so long as played in decent doses.

And that's the problem right there. It isn't that the music is bad, but the DJs and producers of it just keep playing the same bloody thing over and over and over. If music is a drug, then your body has adapted to it and the high isn't as good as it once was. Time for some new drugs... er, music.

Ive been getting back in touch with popular stuff these days, its like ive been living under a rock everybody knows these tunes and ive ignored them all these years,

some of them are actually fun too, not neccessarily top40, but the stuff you hear your friends talking about and wonder where it came from.

Music changes, and you grow out of those styles but there are always stuff out there that might be similar...have similar things that you look for in music. There are a lot of music i've discovered in the past year that isn't quite trance, but it has a lot of things I looked for in certain trance tracks...nice smooth beats, uplifting and euphoric melodies and harmonies, and just an ethereal feel to the tracks. Some trance still has it, but it doesn't seem as "genuine" as it used to be, it just seems over-done, or not done at all (electro or tech stuff). A good balance is nice, and I miss those tracks with a good balance, nothing too theatrical or over-done, but nothing too simplistic or cold.

I have about 8 or so friends who talk trance with me, and I know a good 20 or so that will tolerate hearing it but arent into it so much that they know track names and stuff. You'd really be surprised how diverse people's tastes are. The trick to finding people like that is to GO OUTSIDE!

I'm sorry, that's sort of what I meant.

It hasn't changed that much, it's just more refined. That, plus your taste's changing aswell, means you don't like it anymore.

Its been said already but I'll repeat it. Trance is better now than it ever has been. Production quality is increasing. If you started listening to trance right now, it would be better than it was back in ninteen diggidy two when you started.

Where is Ishkurs' "Nostalgia" picture w/ Jimmy Hendrix when you need it?

Seriously though, listen to house or techno or electro or drum and bass or whatever for a while, and come back to trance, you'll love it again.

Oh do fuck off. I get sick and tired of people so vacuous in their listening tastes they find the ultra-reverbed, ultra-polished, utterly souless trance of today better purely because the production is good. I'd rather listen to a crackly old Drifters record than anything Andy Moor can conjure up.
