I have 2 Numark TT-1520 Direct Drive's.
These are on the lower end of the spectrum, they're pretty cheap (I bought both for $300).
I'm pretty satisfied with them.

I've only used them once.. but i liked em.. stanton ST-100's.

Its like the STR8-80.. except: more torque, standard (not straight) tonearm, and some new features.

They are about $350/ea if you shop around and get a good deal... $100 less than a technics with as much torque and more features.

... but i'd stick with 1200's if i were you... go find something you dont need and sell it

whaat? does a Technics cost 450 $ in USA? Here in Sweden a new costs about 599 $!!

hmm i've tried to sell some stuff...but I only own crappy things no one wants so buy

I have Numark TT-100's and they work fine. I like them very much. Ver reliable.

yes... i can buy a techinics 1200 M3D at a local electronics shop for $449.95 + sales tax...
