"I think the scientific and the artistic spirit have something in common. The scientist wants not only to learn the facts, but to understand how they cohere, fit together and make a whole. He even uses criteria such as beauty and symmetry to help decide which theory he wants.
The scientist cannot capture the whole cosmos in thought. In his mind he makes a kind of microcosm, which we see as an analogue of the cosmos. In this way we try to get a feeling for the whole. The artist, I suppose, gets a feeling for the whole some other way.”

I gotta agree with you the reccomendations, and say that most of them are just falling either in the "just-techno" category or in this "pseudo-neo-electro-click/glitch-house/techno" of trentemoller (good album and downtempo tracks, terrible dance tracks)and extrawelt etc. and have really NOTHING to do with the originall minimal techno/house of the 90s and of the artists i mention in my previous post. Actually i would consider this kind of "neo-glitch-EDM",just stupid electroish house/techno with lots of terrible samples and some strange disturbing (in most of the times) melodies. I don't know why this plastic non-sense sound became famous now...it's probably because of holden (a great producer that something strange happened to him...) and the SHM trash...
To cocnclude, THIS is the "original minimal"...end.
You are right, some of the people i mentioned are kinda of tech house and stuff....all i was doing is giving some advice...i wasnt trying to bash the 'original' minimal
regardless, they are great producers

"Minimal has no meaning, it's just progressive with a few new plug-ins" James Holden.

If that was stated by James Holden then i will think that he is extremely ignorant of the original minimal techno of the 90s which has NOTHING to do with progressive, or new plug-ins or anything like that...Probably his brain is completely toasted by drugs (unfortunately).Besides that i don't know why people call this new sound minimal, that think was refered to as "click-house" or "glitch-techno" (and this is the sound that holden means) when it first started, i wander when the innapropriate word "minimal" got stuck...also now that i think of it this is the type of music that the thread-starter asks for...
Anyway, i can see that this type of music sounds very raw and dry in opposition to modern fluffy trance, hence it was positively received by many trance (and progressive) addicts for that reason. I like a bit of it now and then, but IMO, the majority of it has a very low quality.

Music evolves. I never thought things that sound like bad electro-house would ever be called trance. Can't help evolution.
