I will surely remember it from now on!

Today I freaked out because I was going to run out of my medication over the weekend.
I had placed the order with the local pharmacy and went there only to notice they were closed despite the fact it was marked open till 2 PM!

Well it hit me when I noticed it was 11th of november.

I looked in the newspaper and they wrote the emergency pharmacies open for the weekend. I called 5 of them before I could find one that had the medication I needed in stock and that itself was a freaking miracle considering the stuff is outrageous ( 600 euros ) and the fact I also had a second prescription for it!!! Otherwise I would have been screweeeddd....

Had to drive 50 kilometers to go there! But I ended up visiting the city and went to some tourism fair so in the end my parents were happy we went to that other city

/panic attack over!

i took rowan to the ceremony today and there was a pretty good turnout, also a military helicopter flew over and dumped a bunch of poppy petals over the crowd just before the 2 minute silence. i always get misty eyed over rememberance day, which is kind of lame, but alot of my family served overseas in the wars.

Fucking idiot! No one celebrates it, it's a day of remembering those that sacrificed their lives so that we may live ours.

Hardly a topic worthy of celebrating, rather one of reflection, contemplation and admiration.

And the reason rememberance day is today is because the first World War ended on the 11th hour of the 11th month in 1918.

Jarv

Fucking idiot! you don't know the definition of celebrate

quote:
–verb (used with object)
1. to observe (a day) or commemorate (an event) with ceremonies or festivities: to celebrate Christmas; to celebrate the success of a new play.
2. to make known publicly; proclaim: The newspaper celebrated the end of the war in red headlines.
3. to praise widely or to present to widespread and favorable public notice, as through newspapers or novels: a novel celebrating the joys of marriage; the countryside celebrated in the novels of Hardy.
4. to perform with appropriate rites and ceremonies; solemnize: to celebrate a marriage.

we usually use it in a happy and excited manor, but it by no means is exclusively used that way

At work the whole mall stopped and paid respect while the Last Post was played through the PA system. It was surreal watching a mall full with thousands of people just stop for that brief moment. Lest we forget

Fair comment. Therefore I take back my harsh comment regarding the posters idiocy.

But I wouldn't associate the word celebration with remembering mass life loss. But I see your point.

And the amount of people on here that don't appear to know what 'rememberance' day is, frankly, staggering!
