Ever see those tv shows where people who have wild animals for pets get attacked? Nobody knows what happened to set the animal off, it's just their nature. That's why some of the more dangerous ones are kept in cages. Nobody assumes that a tiger is going to stop attacking and killing other animals just because he got locked up for a while.
I don't assume that any sick fcuk who rapes little kids is going to get better either. Put them in prison for a while until they become tough as nails, angry, lonely and overcome by this primal need to satisfy his fetish. Then, release them and let them walk around in public...guess what happens.
I disagree with you completely. If you get sent away for crap like that several times, you are not, nor do I think you capable of, being rehabilitated. I say shoot 'em, but we can't do that so lock 'em up instead. For ever. And I think anyone who's child has been assaulted by a repeat offender would agree. It's great to have a high moral ground, and I respect that, but this is people's lives we're talking about and it's time to be pragmatic.
I would rather see some sicko locked up for good, at the peril of some 'fundamentals', than have one child grow up and try to live a normal life with that kind of anguish imprinted on them. These laws were written a long time ago and times have changed. Lock 'em up.
I'd like to hear what other people think, too. |
you're talking about people who have raped children...which is but a small % of people who the prosecution would seek to be deemed "dangerous offenders".
I agree with you...I have no problem with locking someone up and throwing away the key if they *repeatedly* commit such a disgusting crime. Everyone (within reason) deserves a 2nd chance...but this 3rd and 4th chance b.s. at the expense of multiple victims? fuck that.
What I'm saying is that the solution is to address the law itself concerning rape of children...i.e. toughen it and scrap parole (or release at all) for repeat offenders. Just don't fuck with a fundamental principle of our legal system and reverse the onus onto the accused...that's a cop out on behalf of the gov't and, to me, amounts to an admission of their failure to create adequate legislation.
