saw a show on nat geographic about these a couple of weeks back. Some very good information on it. I wonder how they can tell a '16 inch' tsunami from a normal wave though

ok, so they managed to get a reading for what seemed like just a normal wave to most people, or would it have exhibited the same signs as a big tsunami with the water receeding (but obviously not much) ?

Well, I regular wave and a tsunami wave of the same height would differ because tsunami waves are much more powerful?
