And that's it right there for me - As long the comments and criticisms remain relevant and appropriate.

Wow, so you're only allowed to kiss their asses? Lol, sounds like dictature to me. That is sooooooooo not good.

I know exactly what you mean, like the COR for example. I was in there speaking my mind as usual and some fag boy from North Carolina named EnigmaticXTC tries to tell me to go fuck my self and here's the funny thing, it was because I thought the whole concept of some guy videotaping himself and reporting what goes on in the Chill out room was a retarded concept (COR news) and the COR is exactly what PKCraistan said it was, one big fuckin circle jerk. So of course 2 emo kids from the COR try to verbally insult me while I'm here having my usual cheeseburger and pear nectar and while laughing away.

I find this statement highly irrelevant, but fair dos.

Ahh yes, here we go again. The good old "If you don't produce or study music you can't criticize the music that other people produce."

So, essentially what you're saying is that, if you're used to a string of quality productions by an artist who, as time goes on, delves into the more commercial realm and uses recycled ideas and catchy synths and shit vocals to sell more records, that people aren't allowed to criticize them because "they don't study classical music"?

What if you listen to music that is bland and uninspired? Are you not allowed commentary on something you find boring?

Furthermore, have you ever criticised a book, movie, or professional athlete? On what grounds?

Frankly, TA seems to have found a nice equalibrium between uber-scensters (Discogs) and worshipful fanboys (T.nu). This forum, or at least the Music Discussion section (wouldn't know of the other ones since I hardly wander other areas), is filled with folks who hold the music they listen to at a certain standard, mainly because they've been here long enough to have developed such standards.

Some are just more outspoken when discussing these standards than others. Much more...

I agree with UWM. A prime example is Laurent Veronnez, he is one of the big names in trance and I would consider him one of the top trance producers especially considering how many quality productions he's had under his many giases. That don't really mean shit nowadays to the new listeners and the sheeps who vote in the Dj Mag. It's easy to disagree with the whole concept, but seeing L-vee place at #250 really threw me off.

DJ Mikey Mike u aint so hardcore - i can do to u what u do to everyone elese:-

EG

DJ Mikey Mike is a highly rated DJ:- he was voted in the DJ MAG top 200 last year. Yet his mixes are simplistic and purile. Fair enough they do contain enough energy and musciality to carry the average listener through a mix - but for me:- i just find them basic and simple. All he does it beatmatch and put one groove with another. it aint that hard to do with a bit of practice.
There is no depth to his mixes...its is basic and superficial build up and breakdown stuff with no REAL content.

so in all - it is listenable - and it maybe tuff trance for the purist but yea - he aint breakin bariers or pushing envelopes - hes just keeping a groove andplaying basic shit for the masses, any1 can do it

see how easy it can be.

I hate it when i see posts sort of like "this song is shit." no explanation, or

This is too cheesy, no explanation.

When giving criticism its alway necessary to justify your reasoning. I think anyways. This is a music discussion messageboard so we're all mature enough to justify our opinions.

Thats about it. But i believe anyone can say what they want, and if they want to be taken more seriously they should justify their positions.
