O.k. guys, ressurection was very good, i agree with you, but i think you have to know that, the main melody it's not PPKs. The original melody was composed by the great Russian composer Edward Artemiev (who played symphonic synth spacey music-the type of Vangelis and Jarre and who is famous for his soundtrack works on Andrei Tarkovsky's great "existenial" films like "Stalker", "Mirror" and the original version of "solaris".)and it was used as an original score for the end-scene of the 70s cult Russian sci-fi movie "Sibiriada". I haven't heard any of other PPK stuff but for what i know, this is largely the reason that PPK was mostly a one-hit wander who never achieved that level again. This melody was never their own in the first place! |
They also stole the main lead for ReLoad. As far as I'm aware, all of PPK's big hooks were stolen and "rearranged", as the inlay notes put it.
However, what everyone forgets is that ResuRection was far more than one bleepy hook they stole. There's a shitload going off in that track, including an epic synth wig-out in the middle for about three minutes. It's a brilliant piece of trance, and far more than just another anthem.
And nobody seems to complain about Gamemaster stealing the lead riff from Quench. Probably because Gamemaster didn't sell as many as ResuRection.
Oh, and it's not the biggest selling trance record in the UK. That's pure bollocks. Children is.
