I have gotten a nice saw patch from the virusC but of course that patch doesn't compare what my 8080 spits out Virus also has that dark characteristic.

I agree the virus is a bitch with all the menus and stuff that is why i got this Vst plugin which works great, and every paramater is all in front of you. works in midi real time.

that's exactly how it looks, Somethings are a lil small but I like how everything is all on one screen and i dont have to scroll to view anything. Took a lil while to get used to but my work flow is pretty good. You can also dump your patches into the editor and load them save them etc.. also run a few instances of the plugin since it's vst and use the multi-mode, and edit everything from the screen, kinda like the TI a little bit.

Not really. The JP doesn't have much in the way of sub menus and mod matrixes. Its easy to program because its not an especially complicated synth.

The Virus at first is a nightmare to program but the more you get used to the way its laid out the more you start to realise that it is designed very well for the purposes of building complex sounds, very quickly. It is extremely intuitive but you have to know what everything does first.

The things I dislike about the Virus - really weak oscillators. It just doesn't really sound good until you pile on a tonne of effects and set up all the envelopes and LFOs.

It doesn't. The unison on the Virus sounds like a Chorus to me only with panspreading on some of the voices.

It also doesn't change the fact that the saw wave on the Virus is weak as hell. You just get loads of weak saws stacked up in unison. I went through a phase of attempting to recreate a supersaw on a Virus B, just as an experiment to see if it could be done. I got close-ish with a tonne of post processing but you still wouldn't fool the owner of a JP.

Lucky then that theres more to music and trance than the supersaw. wooooo.

Workflow on the Virus is amazing. I think thats its greatest strength by far. I don't especially like the sound of it these days. ImpOSCar blows me away for that.

virus saw with unison makes an ok supersaw pad, but its no supersaw for sure.

your right it does sound alot like chrous.. if you try to put chorus on after you have unison up and detuned you wont even hear the chorus or itll just make it sound too muddy. the jp has like 5 types of chorus and they make the supersaw sound really good.

another reason jp sounds so good is its super easy to program dual mode, and all the dual mode presets that come with it and the ones from manuel schlies, those are super fat. virus doesnt come with any multimode presets does it? multimode seems kinda hard to use anyway.. i juse use 2 midi channels.

Yeah I bought it 2 weeks ago $50USD, and it's working well with Cubasesx3, not sure if it works with ableton or Sonar 6
There is no demos for it.

It's one instance for each channel. You can set your virus on multi mode and add 16 instances of the vst and edit each one from it's own.
