Well, finally I get to sit down and listen to your much anticipated 'Light Psy' Mix. Been ages since I've listened to a mix of yours...
Very interesting choice for a first track. I am loving it, it is very edgy, with a definitely tech/industrial tone to it. Not too sure what emotions it is evoking in me, anticipation maybe? Regardless, great little intro, interesting percussions and flute. Nearly 5 minutes in and I am eating this up. The drawn out feeling this intro is providing is building up so much neutral anticipation.
Impeccable first mix. Songs worked very well together, EQing is bang on. Love that synth in this new track, still pushing that industrial sound.
This is definitely my first foray into 'Psy-Trance', and so far I am pleased. The tone I have noticed over all is that it still manages to drive a considerable amount of energy, but does not flood the ears with many sounds. It's like trance, but a more minimal sound, with more atmospheric elements, while still delivering a slight grunge sound with the industrial influences. Is this roughly what Psy-Trance is? Or is this simply the sub section you decided to choose?
More great mixing, not much more to say, flawless effort so far! This track is really picking the energy up now (25 minutes in).
Fantastic flow, now 45 minutes in. Not too much energy, but just enough. I don't really sense much uplifting energy, although it certainly is what I would consider light trance. I might have to listen to the dark mix you made to see the contrast.
Track at 55 minutes has an interesting House undertone, interesting psy and house feel. Me likey.
Just coming into the 1 hour mark and loving the feel of this track. I am thoroughly impressed with the flow of the set so far. You do a great job of keeping a similar base from song to song, but build a slight energy increase throughout. Interesting to see something that would seem boring (too much of the same), be the complete opposite. Well done!
Last 20 minutes weren't spectacular in my eyes, but I can tell you weren't trying to blow my socks off. Solid last 20 minutes, certainly had a hypnotic/entrancing feel to it. Almost slightly soothing, with even realizing until you think about it afterwards.
OVerall Impression: Great set, I loved the lighter industrial sound you had throughout. Mixing was bang on throughout and EQing was superb. Fantastic flow, and thank you for the great intro to Psy Trance. You'll definitely see me listen to your other Psy based sets. I highly recommend this set to anyone afraid to take the plunge, but curious.
Score: 7.6 / 10
