Reason 1: After the recommendation you pay more attention to that song while listening to it, so yeah, you might discover something you haven´t before.
Reason 2: When someone says 'omg ch00n i die', you listen to that tune with some kind of positive bias and it may affect your opinion on the track. But it shouldn´t.

i find myself often getting dissapointed when checking out a "omfg choon" simply cause its not what im looking for.
ofcourse, any tune that gets the recommended sticked from me are awesome tunes indeed.. like: (example)

i agree that you should judge music for yourself, but I have to admit that I've experienced what you're talking about. I'll have a listen to something, but maybe I just didn't give it a good enough look, then I hear someone on here talk about how they like it, and I'll give it another listen. Sometimes I end up liking it more.
