i honestly would stay away from mixing two of the same songs together. makes a song sound too drawn-out and redundant. also has a good chance of phasing/cancelling-out. i would instead focus on mixing two different remixes of the same track. but i guess that's all up to you.

Playing the same track together and getting a phasing effect is nice, just don't overuse it.
It's great for when you don't have an effects unit (like me). I don't really use the effect that much, though. As someone mentioned, playing different remixes of the same track is fun.
Just be creative!

Yeah, blending different remixes is sometimes cool.

with the right remixes it sounds excellent. case in point: sasha & seb fontaine 2002(?) liveset i think. starts with Sasha/Emerson - Scorchio (late night dub) and mixes into the original mix. it adds a lot of energy to the beginning of the set and you can tell by the crowd's reaction that it worked well.

Well there you go now you understand how a song is built. So what you do is like you said mix into the points where there is a dash as long as you don't mix into the main or mini melody you should be fine. You know the other song you're mixing in will have the same type of structure so it is just a task of mixing the dashes together. I hope you understand this but let me know if you need some help.
