If people disappeared it won't be anything like the USSR or Nazis Germany. The majority of Americans are not a threat even if they talk big. So there wouldn't be much need for many people to disappear. Just the real threats to the government stability.

I dunno about that, they've been extraordinarily efficient about punching through some 'dodgy' civil rights, surveilance and FOI stuff last few years and no one seemed to have cared about those.
