honestly although cattle do produce a large portion of the GHG emmissions, its not bad at all. the reason why fossil fuels are so bad for GHG is that they add carbon to the carbon cycle. when cows give off Co2 and methane, it is all produced in their digestive tract from breaking down food (plant material) when the manure decomposes, the carbon returns to the soil, and the trees will absorb the c02 and convert it back to 02. the carbon cycle is a fully sustainable system that will lead to no net increase in ghg. now with fossil fuels you are indroducing million year old carbon deposits into the current carbon cycle, increasing the net carbon levels and offsetting the equillibrium. if all automobiles ran off of a 100% bio diesel or ethanol base, then the GHG level increases would stabilize (theoretically as long as the greenspace is maintained to remove co2 from the atmosphere)

Yeah, I’d like to know what horrible, scarring incident in your childhood turned you into such an ignorant, intellectual-hating philistine? |
