FYI a friend recently bought a G4 MX440 for $180CDN (~110-120USD) and it works very well... blows away anything else ive ever seen, except perhaps the Radeon 8500... but that will cost you twice as much and the difference is minimal considering you will not notice a difference from 110-120 fps

just a little info on the G4 Ti4600...
It has more power in one card than all computing power that existed in the year 1985
Two cards will outpower every single Voodoo grahics card ever manufactured(i think thats the voodoo 1 which was used in comparison)

hmm

If your gonna buy a new vid card I would suggest either a GeForce3 Ti500 (Not a ti200 its worse than a gef2 ultra), or a Geforce4 4400. The GeF2 MX400 64mb is what I have and it does the job, but the cheap end GeForce 3's and 4's are not worth the cash. Obviously the GeForce4 4600 is the God and if you can afford it fire away, since that totally whoops anything else on the market. ELSA do a good model here. Radeon's can hold there own, but in the end nothing beats a good nVidia card these days.

I have a TNT2

I'm about to order a "GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GeForce 3 Ti200 64MB (NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 GPU), Power Pack Golden Sample, ( 4ns 64MB DDR. ). TV-Out. Retail Box"

for 139, then 7 dollars shipping so $146 US dollars.

there are so many 64 mb video cards out there that will more than meet your needs. talking about one in particular to look for is ridiculous. just go to any computer outlet and ask them for a list, you'll be amazed.

the Radeon 8500 (go to Pricewatch for the cheapest price) is prolly the best deal around.. if you play CS, you will appreciate smoothvision.. I love mine

yes Radeon 8500 is very good the fastest ones are as fast as the fastest geoforce4's.

However i believe the radeon 8500 comes in three speeds, so the ones listed on pricewatch might not be as fast as the geoforce4's, but at $125 they are still a good deal.

I almost bought a radeon 8500 at the pricewatch $125 price but instead opted for a geoforce3 ti200 at a similar price. I couldn't find a website that had a comprehensive video card review section so i couldn't really compare them so i just went with my personal preferences.

i must admit, recently i have not really been up to the news on Vid cards, but my roommate, who has been, says that the Radeon8500 is the best deal...

yes your right and the MX cards suck big time...thats why they are cheap...my Gforce 2 GTS 64megs is faster then the MX GF 4...and they dont support Vertex Shader and Pixel Shader....so dont buy it if your a hardcore gamer like me..

Cool, I think the wait for the Ti4200 may have been worth it...check out this IGN test article: http://pc.ign.com/articles/357/357504p1.html

Hopefully I'll be able pick one of these up soon
