Harden or Haren. That's really all I want. Dontrelle does not impress me. At all.

No way they are gonna give up Harden, but Haren is avail if we give them miledge and heilman, don't know if thats worth it though.

Can we just get a healthy right fielder please lol. Like I said if he is healthy he can be a good protector of Manny in the lineup. I can recall Donnelly being a thorn in the Sox's batters side as well...he was also very good during the world series I believe a few years ago for the Angels. I agree the Jays are a big threat again this year. Vernon Wells has abused Boston pitchers the past couple of years.

definately right that he is an improvement over nixon. I'm not sure he is great protection for manny (he seems good enough), but he is sure better than jason veritek. At least he has shown 30+ homer potential. If you guys had a more solid bullpen we might be talking about boston winning the division by 5 or 6 games. As it stands now, its very close between the sox and yanks, and toronto is close behind.

you must be joking.

not only is he a proven winner, he's got pop in his bat (re: his 2 dinger game @ shea)

what's he have to do to impress you? pitch while standing on his hands and hurling with his feet?

i've heard through the grapevine that aaron harang is another name that's being tossed around...along with blanton.

in any case....in omar i trust.

People talk about Dontrelle Willis as if he is Johan Santana. He's not. Not even close.

He's EXTREMELY inconsistent. His bat has nothing to do with the way he pitches. Sure, it's an added bonus, but it's not like that's what's adding value to him. Dontrelle will cost WAY more in prospects that he's worth. For the same, or maybe even less, Danny Haren could probably be had.

223.3 IP, 234 H, 83 BB, 160 K, 3.87 ERA, 1.41 WHIP
223 IP, 224 H, 45 BB, 176 K, 4.12 ERA, 1.20 WHIP

Those are last year's stats. I dunno about you, but I'd much rather have the second guy. Haren's only 2 years older than Dontrelle.

I think Harden is available due to injury concerns. In anycase, I'd take either of them for that package.

dontrelle's stats would look a whole lot better if the walks were brought down. His 83 BB was a fluke. The previous walk totals were 58, 61, and 55. Don't forget dontrelle is only 24, and has been in the league for 4 years, and has thrown 15 complete games and 8 shutouts!!!! Pedro has only thrown 17 Shutouts in his 14 year career. For willis, part ways with milledge in a second. Milledge looked terrible every time I saw him play in the majors.

But when Pedro wasn't throwing shutouts, he was only giving up 2 runs a game. Not the case with Willis. Also, you can't take into context just the Walks without the IP and the Ks. To me, it looks like his 2005 was a fluke and the rest is what he is.

His K/BB since entering the league:

2.45, 2.28, 3.09, 1.93

Now... which one looks like the fluke? Really... after this year, we'll be able to better tell what pitcher Dontrelle Willis is. Is he the 2005 or 2006 version? I'm guessing he's closer to the 2006 than to the 2005 for the rest of his career. I could be wrong though...
