I think this guy thinks that if you know the bpms of two tracks, you can pull out your little calculator (not a metaphor for penis) and calculate how much pitch change you need. Then you can get exactly that pitch change on the slider and you're done.
Of course, no one carries a little calculator, you can't get a precise percentage change on a slider, and even then if the deck's a bit worn out it means that you'll still be a bit off and need to............ beatmatch.
I do think it would be hilarious to see a dj in the booth with a pad and pen doing long division though
Even if he thinks using it as a rough guide to how much you need to change is cheating, as soon as you hear two tracks you generally have a rough idea how much you need to change anyway (say to within 1%, which is probably about the same as you could get in your head by calculating two numbers)
besides, theres much more to djing than beatmatching
