Yeah, is there a noticeable difference though when converting to WAV first instead of aif?

Both are lossless, their shouldn't be.

Nice, thanks for the advice guys. I do think its kinda BS that Ableton can't just export to MP3, but I know all the Ableton apologists will be like 'well it's just that...'
