Some songs. It really depends on what the point of the song is. Dance music tends to sound good at high volumes.

Generally, music that's amplified by a sound system only sounds good to an extent. If you really want loud music that is awesome, music performed by live musicians with acoustic instruments always sounds best loud, though. That stuff doesn't clip.

You can't really listen to dubstep on headphones and get the full experience. It's somatic as much as it is aural.

Depends, I cant say listening to music loudly on a poor audio system is going to make the sound better, because the spectrum of intruments often gets distorted and mingled and it detracts from the song.

Also, some music even on a good system sounds awful at a high volume, I can say firsthand of hours of headache from alcohol-driven country music. But hey, it could of been premeditated due to my personal music preference

The better the sound the more enjoyable it is to listen to at higher volumes. I suppose each and everyone individual gets off when they hear a certain sound and we all feel a different rythem and beat that captivates us like we just had an epiphany

there are tracks that sound good on your pc monitors/speakers...then sound shit in a club...

and vice versa

Some songs need to be cranked to hear some of the low lying elements that make the track, mostly songs with few vocals I find this is the case.

First time I heard 'Tracking Treasure Down' was at normal semi quiet volume and i thought it sucked. Then i heard it in a club really loud and the sound amazed me.

Music at high volumes releases some sort of endorphines in your brain and increases the pleasure (apparently)

Highest volume possible without clipping/distorting, or causing pain = win.

I like to experience my music fairly loud. It's a totally different experience, sounding better almost regardless of genre.

Dance music with applied "Dynamic Range Compression" (DRC) sounds louder and more energetic than the original. Most FM stations do that. The music sounds louder although the peak volume doesn't change (the more silent parts of the music get louder while the already loud parts do not change).

This together with an already quite high volume lets you continously bath in rhythmic sounds and that is quite good for your rhythm feelings and could let you dance more easily...

The whole thing (high volume + DRC) is not bad if you listen to Dance Music but it modifies the original music and it is quite bad for mellow tunes, for Ambient and for Classical Music...
