They won't stand a chance against our weaponry and technology that God has helped us create. We'll hit them hard and secure the oil fields that are rightly ours faster than they can lift a finger.

And we'll find WMDs.

And we'll rid the world of yet another dictator.

And we'll show the world our mighty power in this incredible War on Terror.

What an America-hater you are. Please leave my country and the baby Jesus alone.

Without dragging anymore of your anti-american comments
into a thread about Venezuela, I suppose you support
Chavez's efforts to hurt his domestic opposition and
their criticism of his policies?

Don't forget him being anti-Christian too. Must be an atheist bastard who parades around naked with a Communist flag used as a cape.

I just don't get these people. Our Christian Nation supports all other nations that don't do policies like these. We support those countries that promote democracy and show our disgust and dissent towards ALL countries with ruthless dictators who quell dissenters.

Why can't this anti-American see that?

Riiiight--that's the direction he's clearly going by declaring private industry as sole property of the state. When has nationalization ever been considered a step in the direction of democracy and liberty? An interesting quote from the other Chavez thread that I started that came from the Economist:

More like:
quote:
The process Fidel advised requires the slow dismantling of institutions that act as checks on the executive while maintaining the guise of democracy. This calls for healthy poll numbers even while the rule of law is being trampled. Mr. Chávez had oil revenues to keep the masses happy while he put a noose around democracy.

Today's action on the Venezuela Stock Market Index (IBVC Index)...

Down 11,574 to 50,438.71, down from 62,012.71. That's almost a 19% move straight down in a single day. That's the equivalent of about a 2,300 point smackdown on the Dow in a single day. Feel the love!

Oh yeah, you can tell it to your Mom.

Look on Georgia, Azerbaijan and a mighty Kazahstan.
Yes you support them, but they don't give a shit about democracy in their country.

ps.
Fuck off.

There's a difference between nationalization of natural resources vs. nationailzatio of established private infrastructure. The democratic way is through greater regulation. The "I'm a dick-tator" method is via theft of value that was created by others.

Really, I don't see any difference. What's the problem? He will build all that private infrastructure. Last time I check, I didn't find any democratic regulations in Saudi Arabia.

Who do think own the natural resources in Saudi Arabia? Population?

America is going to theft Iraqi oil incase they sign that Law, is that ok with you?

That was fun.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you are dangerously close to splitting hairs here. The dictatorship in Saudi Arabia, though different as the one versus Chavez, is granted different on a number of fronts both in historical origin and present-day infrastructure. However, it is still a dictatorship nonetheless. Nationalizing the resources versus nationalizing private industries has different means to the same end, do they not?
