i hate that.. is this what causes some records to seem like they are stuck to the platter? like when you are cueing the record theres like no friction between the platter and the slipmat.. or when u back it up it feels like the deck lost all torque?? cos some records of mine do that and i know its not my tables!

Most of the time when you get a record that's really spinny on the turntable, and just spins really easily, and doesn't start spinning when the platter starts etc, it has nothing to do with the hole. You'll find that the record is warped into a dome-shape, so that only the label is really in contact with the slipmat, making it really slippy. If you turn the record over it won't do this.

The "little round thingy" is called a 45 rpm adapter. It is made so you can play your 45 rpm 7" singles.

yah.
the problem i'm talking about is when the hole is big, so you cue up the record and instaed of just spinning it shifts and moves against the gruv and your needle jumps.

i never had that problem... i had a problem with the hole being to small and its a bitch. when you have to pull the record off of the deck because im always scared it might break.

iv heard of people shoving pens in trying to stretch the hole.. but i wouldn't jump and do that cuz if you make it too big your screwed. i guess just use it and hope over time it opens up.

I think as you play it more and put it in and take it out on a regular basis, the hole will stretch.
This theory seems to work on the female sexual organ too.
