Since you asked:
Look up King Tubby or Lee "Scratch" Perry and you'll find that these 2 DJs/Producers revolutionized modern DJing/Production. Jamaica 1960/70's these guys were among the first to introduce the "dubplate". Basically a "backtrack" laced with heavy bass, added echo, reverb and vocal samples made from an existing track... yes a remix. MC's then toatsed or rhymed over these dubplates.
Credit must be given to these pioneers for influendcing many music genres. Hip Hop (Dj Kool Herc) would not have existed if it wasn't for Dub - which also lead to disco, house, techno and the rest!. Groups like Prodigy attribute artists like Lee "Scratch" Perry as major influences.... "Outer Space" was originally by Scratch Perry.
But in the end Jamaicans don't skate.
