To me language is "hearer centric". The hearer of words is the one who attributes meaning, not the speaker. I swear all the time, because they are just words, the same as any other. If a hearer hears the words, and reacts to them, it is because of the meaning they attribute to the words, not because of anything I have done. I think people being offended etc. by hearing swearing says more about that person, than the person doing the swearing.
