no love for nostalgia? i thought that was rather nice.
went for exactly in the other one but looks like BT has run away with it.. pretty silly outcome really since people only seem to be voting for it because they don't like anything else in the poll. hardly representative of tune of the year if it does win..

its still a better representation than any of the tunes in that poll. imo hybrid shouldve taken it but now that its out this is the only other tune that could even come close to passing as a realistic "track of the year"

i disagree. it should reflect what's been rocking dancefloors across the globe the most in the world of trance, considering it's a public vote & not decided by a panel of experts. something to sum up the year in a nutshell regardless of how 'good' it is (loose term)
a fair few of the other tunes would make better candidates, but it's ultimately a genre-battle now.. at least in group A. those who still like trance have 7 to choose from & the vote is split pretty evenly. those who don't all pile in on the one remaining tune

i see where youre coming from but i think when it comes down to it, it should be a matter of quality not popularity. say a dj sammy track rocked the dancefloors all year...would you want it representing the year overall?

I think the track needs to encompass a little of both nouns. Obviously a track with no recognition will fail to draw the attachment to the year it was release in; just like hearing a track can make you feel a certain emotion or remember a specific event in your life, tracks can also, if heard often enough, act as an indicator of a period of time. That said, we do associate the summer of 2004 or the year 2006 with particular tunes; however, that doesn't guarantee any level of quality.
KEEP VOTING; I WILL HAVE THE FINAL POLL OPEN WHEN I GET HOME FROM CLASS TONIGHT (PST TIME).

when it comes down to what exactly.. the results of a public vote?
what you're saying just isn't making any sense.. it's a popularity contest no matter what. just it seems to be leering towards 'least hated tune' than 'most loved tune' right now, which is a shame

if he made a track worthy of being hammered throughout the scene (& not just in cheesy downtown student haunts) then i'd see no reason why not. the fact that this probably isn't going to happen makes it a bit of a pointless anaology..

whose fault is that? should they not vote cuz their favorite tune didnt make it? the people that are voting for that track are voting for it because they think its the best track in the poll. even if its to combat the rise of other tracks they think are shitty, they still think its the best of the bunch, otherwise they wouldnt be voting for it.

no? heaven was a huge hit. it could easily have been nominated for something like this. my point wasnt that it'd be shit because he made it but going by his track record he was the most logical example i could think of. anyone's capable of producing an ace tune. but making a big hit thats actually a good tune is the trick.
like the poster above you said, it takes both of those qualities to make up a tune of the year. it has to be popular AND a good tune. but when it comes down to having to choose one over the other...quality should prosper

There's no need to even argue because RapidFire is totally correct. This isn't Rocking Dancefloor Song of 2006 is it? It doesn't have to be a club song to win Tune of the Year.

You are correct, Sir. We are simply deciding the "TranceAddict Track of the Year" from a pool of tracks of varying taste and style selected by us TranceAddicts.

I think that the best way to do this would just be to have a single "track of the year" thread and have everyone list his favorite track, although that would probably get unwieldy with so many replies. And at the end the tracks could be listed in order of the number of times they got nominated for track of the year.
