If that's not compelling enough of a reason to not get the Xponent (we have a newspaper here by the same phonetic name), you can always get 750 off of the dollar menu at a fast food restaurant.

(OT: McDonald's 'Dollar Menulinaires' commercial is f---ing terrible.)

The $750 does get you the software. It's not just for the controller.

Personally I would never go back to any system such as CDJs that requires me to fumble around with dozens or hundreds of plastic discs. And burn them beforehand in various sorting orders.

But nobody who has quality CDJ's and a quality mixer will want to move to a system that uses a cheapo plastic toy controller either!

Where's our high end ableton specific MIDI controllers with integrated audio? HELLOOOOOO....

At NAMM there is a Numark "Total Control" midi unit announced, not as fancy as the M-Audio product, also looks plastic. http://numark.com/

And one from Vestax which is similar to the Numark but more rugged all-metal. http://www.vestax.com/v/products/players/vci100.html

Having used a platic controller, I'd say they have their uses, keeping the weight, size, and cost down can be a good thing depending on your requirements. Usually they don't have replaceable faders, not really designed to be serviced, so maybe you need to scrap them when a fader goes bad. For $150 that is acceptable but not in an expensive unit.
