The rectangle thing at the back says:

Pioneer
MODEL CDJ-1000MK2
AC 120V 60Hz 33W

So I guess it's American then.

I've been playing around with it today using the UK plug, and luckily I haven't fried anything.

I won't be doing it again though. I'll get myself and adaptor asap.

or if it's a US model it'll say:

COMPACT DISC PLAYER
MODEL CDJ-1000MK2
110V

for example

IF YOURS SAYS 110V AND YOU LIVE IN THE UK, DO NOT PLUG IT INTO THE MAINS...

...without an appropriate transformer, which it's very unlikely would come with it.

Mine's says 120V... not 110V.

Yes its a US model, 100%. Mine say 120 as well.
They are however dual voltage- post (actually search instead its been asked loads) on the forum at pioneerprodj.com and they will confirm they are dual voltage.
I just prefer using my US transformers, but then I am strange.

I was referring specifically to the CDJs- not in general.

I know Denon have an annoying habit of doing that- they do it with their twin CD decks too.

^ So its ok to use the UK plug? Seeing as its dual voltage?

I just need to confirm cuz I don't want to fry my CDJ's! I'll check out the pioneer forum too.

Dual voltage usually means the voltage it runs on is switchable (it doesn't automatically work on either voltage). You need to make sure it's switched to 230V... but if the label on the back just says "120V" then I wouldn't have thought it would be dual voltage - although someone did say earlier that they are so maybe check with him.

And yeah some things say 110V, others say 120V... either way you don't wanna stick 230V across it! In the same way that some UK stuff still says 240V and some European stuff says 220V, even though they've both changed to a 230V standard.

hm.

There seems to be some uncertainty as to whether they're dual voltage or not.

I've checked other forums and most people are saying that they ARE dual voltage, but then again why doesn't it say so on the deck?

I might phone Pioneer customer services or something.

There is no uncertainty!
Did it fry? Non!
You (stupidly) tried it, and it works.
Pioneers own employees on the forum will tell you in numerous posts that they are dual voltage. You do not need to switch anything- it is done internally automatically.

Random examples (pioneerkaraokekarl and pulse work for pioneer by the way):

http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve/for...6904#2561046904

http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve/for...8904#4281068904

http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve/for...04/m/8281058014

http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve/for...04/m/5311098014

There are plenty more on there if you run a search... http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve/for...cope=6781012904

It doesnt say so on the deck because pioneer (and other companies) do not like people grey importing things and undercutting their main dealers in other countries.
Hence it does not say it on the back, so it is not immediately obvious to the majority of people.
Phone tech support and they will more than likely tell you it is not, and that it is a grey import, in an attempt to get you tio buy a UK one at full price.
Don't believe the hype....
