Hi,
Gave the mix a quick (ish) listen, and some very good mixing, but theres one thing that i don't really like, i know im being picky but it's the first few tracks
Nu NRG - Aloa P
Giuseppe Ottaviani - Clambake
Giuseppe Ottaviani - White Lady
Nu NRG - Dreamland (Rank 1 Re Edit)
This aloa p seems to be in the typical hardish nu nrg hard trance, but then it goes into clambake and white lady, which i don't think works. I think you should've started with say clambake or white lady then gradually worked into that kind of stuff. For me the first tune is too hard then it goes into clambake (a filler track or early track). I thought the mix with the first two could've been a bit better, not that its all that bad, i just think when you do a mix the first mix should be flawless. When clambake drops it seems a bit dead or something (to me it does), the mix into white lady was fine, but then i thought dreamland didn't work well either, not saying the mix was that bad, it just didn't seem to flow with properly, ie going from white lady a techy sort of thing to the banging dreamland tune...i haven't properly listened to it all, it did seem a lot better into the mix, a few tiny slip ups (which everyone has!) but pretty good, i just think you should've worked the start better,
say starting off with aloa p, then going hard into some hardish tune then dreamland etc, but with the inclusion of clambake/white lady i didn't really feel it worked, personally i probably would've started off with a some minimal tune not very trancey and then say white lady, then a wee bit harder, and gradually bring it to the hard stuff.
I hope you don't think im being too picky, im just not one of these people that say "hey great mix!", just for the sake of it. I do know it's hard to make a producer mix when you're confined to a certain amount of tunes but anyway it was a good mix generally i thought. Im not exactly that good a dj to critize others, but i thought i'd just share my opinion and if you want to check out some of my mixes in my signature and give me a grilling feel free |
Hi Mate,
Thanks so much for the feedback - I do agree with you that Aloa P is a more Harder and Darker Nu NRG tune and in hindsight should have been elsewhere in the set.
The reason I opened with it was because I liked the vocal in it and thought I could use it as an intro - What I should have done was created a sample on the CDJ with the vocal and then dropped it into either Clambake or Whitelady.
Thanks so much for taking the time to have a listen and give some good feedback. Will have a listen to yours matey!!
Cheers
Dan
