if i remember correctly my last school session, there's a loop hole in the canadian Law.
I know there's a loophole somewhere in the document. I think something says that you can't download illegaly but you can't get sued due to privacy right or something.
Unless the law is reformed, Canada is an illegal download paradise.
I heard a spain senator tried to pass a law where downloading would be legal....
EDIT : well it was kinda said in the first post... was too lazy to read be4 posting
what it boils down to is that ISP providers like Roger/Bell believe that is an invasion of privacy to provide grps in the US the IP addresses of the users who download movies at these torrent/newsgrp sites. As long as thats the case...we should be fine.

I believe that part of the loophole is that it's perfectly legal to download content but not-so legal to upload it...
With bit torrent you're pretty much forced to upload anyways tho (which is a good thing in most aspects... well aside from f****** cheap Videotron imposing a 10GB upload cap each month)

...which would be one more reason to download movies

I like how Hollywood is going to delay movie releases here in Canada to "combat" piracy. Anyone else see the problem with that solution? Sure, they'll stop us from recording films in the theaters, but that will only fuel the downloaders.

Shouldnt have to... very few ISP's (used to at least) impose an upload / download cap... it's just a cheap way to make money and not something I support.
