I think that personally, the CDJ 1000 MK2s wont last you that long, considering in a few years laptop DJing will replace it. Right now, CDJs are replacing TTs, but say by 2011 or 2012..laptop DJing will replace CDJs. CDs are already becoming a dying format. I don't think they will last quite as long as vinyl did for DJing. DVD-R's made for audio will replace CDs for those who want that same feel. That's just my prediction...who knows. But I can't see them lasting past 2012. This is from a user/format standpoint, not longevity of the player. I already touched on that I think and other people.
They wont last you as long as most TTs, but will surely get about 5 or 6 years of use out of them. Oh and there is an MK3 out, sure the features aren't that different to call for an upgrade, but who knows if in a few years they will release something more geared towards laptop DJs, like a MIDI controller/CDJ hybrid. If you can get an MK2 on the cheap, like I am selling mine for (already sold pretty much), I'de go with it. If you have the money, i'de say go with either the CDJ 1000 MK3s if you feel CDJing will continue for years, or get something for less money. |
I think you've missed the point somewhat. This is a discussion about the length of time a CDJ will last before fault occurs, rather than a discussion on equipment tends.
